Well that would be me, Ruth. I'm an 21 year old rider originally from Warwickshire but upon moving to the Royal Agricultural University, I am currently located in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. While studying for my degree in Applied Equine Science and Business, I have continued to use my social media platforms to track my journey with Biggs. The focus recently has been our dressage ventures as we begin our British Dressage journey and continue training with an international Grand Prix Dressage rider.
The appeal of my page is to give light to the amateurs out there in the equine world. The equestrian social media community is filled with competitive riders, winning every weekend with their string of horses and never ending funds. In reality, the majority of riders are amateurs with a dream, trying to do best by there four legged friends and put dinner on the table during difficult economic times. I like to think that my platform enables people to see the other side, someone trying their best with a native breed and learning along the way. Whether you have just entered your first intro test or jumped a 50cm log, my community is a place to celebrate these wins!
How my social media journey started
I started the Instagram page, Biggsandsmall, back in 2018 but it wasn't until we bought Biggs in February 2019 that things started to take off. It was surreal to see the followers grow as many of you joined us on our first year together, showing the highs and lows of owning a new horse. As I discovered new characteristics of Biggs's personality, so did my followers too. First came Instagram, then YouTube, then Facebook and so started the adventures of Biggsandsmall.
I now offer content creation and collaborations with businesses, please see my 'business' page for more information and get in contact today. This includes modelling with and without Biggs, as well as reel creation
The grey Connemara you see above is Biggs. He is 13 years old and has been by my side for over 4 years. He is the most loveable chap you will ever meet but keeps me on my toes.
We originally did a bit of everything, allowing me to have fun with my first horse. Unfortunately jumping doesn't seem to be Biggs's passion but he has shown a true talent for dressage.
We are starting to compete at BD Quest with the hope to progress into Prelim competitively and onto Novice. We ride with Crown Riding Club.
Biggs came with me to university and has stayed with my throughout. I am lucky to have such amazing facilities at our yard in Cirencester and Biggs has taken so well to moving wherever I am located.
We currently have a great team behind us, keeping Biggs looking and feeling amazing.
This new venture is exciting and a dream come true. I am excited to become more competitive with Biggs and have a real aim.
I recently worked with Horse of the Year Show and Events through a lens to create stills, reels and 360 videos for their 2023 merchandise
